here is what peace stables has been up to lately!

2010 SHOW SEASON HAS BEGUN!

Peace Stables started the 2010 show season off with a bang last weekend!  Ashley Levasseur and Erin McFadden racked up the ribbons at the GHJA Jump Ahead Benefit Horse Show at Wills Park on December 19-20.  Ashley did very well in her Large Pony Hunter 2'9 debut, and placed 2nd and 3rd out of 8 in some tough competition!  She also came away with a 3rd and 4th place in the GHJA Pony Medal.  Erin was Champion both days in the Short Stirrup Hunter division, and she won the Short Stirrup Equitation over fences AND flat portion!  Peace Stables also won the 'Stall Decorating Contest'!  We wooed the judges with candy canes, crazy hats, and played Christmas music around the barn.  While it was freezing cold weather, we still had a great time!  Merry Christmas, and happy point chasing!  :)

SNOWY MORNING AT DOVER SADDLERY

Whoever said horse people are crazy are CORRECT!  The Peace Stables crew crawled out of bed very early Saturday morning to be the first ones in line for the Dover Saddlery Tent Sale - in the SNOW.  While we waited in the freezing cold snowy weather, we devised a plan to get the best deals fast!  We left with a loot of cheap blankets, sheets, bridles, and more!  Fun times with great barn friends!  Pictured above is Holly, Ashley, Emma and Kelly.

2009 YEAR IN REVIEW - TWO NIGHTS OF CELEBRATION!

I can't express how proud I am of the Peace Stables crew this year.  We celebrated by attending the SHJG and B&B banquets and collecting ribbons and prizes at each one!  Heidi won leadline awards; Ashley was recognized for her outstanding achievements on Mocha Java, Luke, Kip, and Quack (including winning the perpetual bowl for the B&B Mini-Medal); Emma Kate received ribbons for her winnings on Ohno; and Erin sweeped both Jr. Beginner Flat and Crossrail division prizes in SHJG and B&B for her efforts on Piper.  All in all, we took home several year-end champion and reserve ribbons, and won halters, lead ropes, jackets, trophies, tote boxes, brushes, and a perpetual bowl!  Congratulations Erin, Ashley, Emma and Heidi!  I must say a special thank you to our trainer, Kelly White.  Her dedication to Peace Stables and knowledge of the hunter/jumper sport shows through her winning students!  Not bad for a farm that started a year ago!  What an impressive team we've built so far!  God is good!

SHJG FINALS - MISERABLE WEATHER, BUT WE HAD FUN ANYWAY!

This weekend Team Peace Stables loaded up eight horses in the rainy cold weather, and went to the SHJG Finals at Step-N-Free Stables.  Ashley Levasseur debuted her new pony, Splash of Paint, and took home the Reserve Champion trophy in Short Stirrup.  Erin McFadden was champion in short stirrup on Ramblin' and Gamblin'.  Ashley and Erin also had fun in the costume class (picture to the left)!  Ryan Haddon showed Silk Boxers in the Long Stirrup and did well, despite the awful weather!  We had a great time, and ended the season successfully!!

EMMA KATE THOME WINS THE SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD AT RIVER BIRCH

Perhaps the most prestigous award given at a horse show was won by our own Emma Kate Thome this weekend at the River Birch horse show in Tyrone.  Emma showed great character and sportsmanship-like conduct, and was selected as the winner of the Sportsmanship Award for the advanced section of the show.  We are so proud to have her on our team.  Congrats Emma!  Great job to all of the girls who showed at River Birch: Ashley, Megan, Marissa, and Emma!

ASHLEY LEVASSEUR WINS THE BRITCHES & BOOTS MINI-MEDAL!

In her first show as a member of Team Peace Stables and riding under Kelly White, Ashley brought home the mini-medal win!  On her borrowed mount Duck Duck Goose (owned by Pat Vaillancourt and offered for sale by Peace Stables), Ashley rode an equitation course of fences, followed by a flat portion where she had to ride without stirrups.  Ashley topped the other entries, winning the perpetual bowl, a big ribbon, and a canopy tent embroidered with 'B&B MiniMedal Champion 2009'.

Erin McFadden earned the Novice Hunter 2' and Low Hunter 2' Champion ribbons on Ramblin and Gamblin, and Emma Kate Thome had a great show on First Date.

Congratulations girls - and special thanks to Kelly who does a great job training these girls and their ponies!

PEACE STABLES WELCOMES ASHLEY LEVASSEUR AND EMMA KATE THOME!

We are proud to announce the addition of Ashley and Emma to 'Team Peace Stables'!  Both girls are looking forward to the 2010 show season riding under Kelly White!  Welcome girls - we're glad to have you join our family!

ERIN MCFADDEN'S SHORT STIRRUP DEBUT EARNS RESERVE CHAMPION!

Erin McFadden had a milestone moment when she competed in her first Short Stirrup classes at Elders Mill Equestrian Center on September 19, 2009.  She won the first class and was second in the hack (out of 8!), earning the Reserve Champion honors.  Way to go Erin and trainer Kelly!
